On Turning 59
Yesterday I realized that one week from yesterday (March 27th), I will be turning 59 . . . on April 3rd. I am excited about that. The last years of the fifties -- five decades and nine years. So I told my husband that I will be celebrating all year, and make a big deal of my last year of the fifties. I have no idea what I'm going to do yet. The idea just came to me yesterday, and I have a week to think about it. Some of my ideas were: Lose 59 pounds (which I should do, but that would be no fun), save $59 a week, which at the end of 52 weeks would be $3,068, and then Tom and I could go on a trip on my 60th birthday, or maybe donate the $3,068 to my favorite charity. I could sew 59 new projects during the next year, one a week, since I love to sew; but since there are only 52 weeks in a year, 7 weeks will have to have two projects (is that correct? 7 weeks? I've never been very good in math). I could read 59 books (oh, how I wish I had the time). I could try out 59 new recipes. I could walk 59 minutes a day and just enjoy the outdoors (but it gets pretty cold up here, so that my not be a good idea). Well, I have a week to think about it. But if you have any ideas what I can do for my last year of the fifties, let me know, and I'll add it to my list of ideas, and then hopefully decide by next week.
